Some information, such as public profiles may not require an account to view. But if you choose to create an account with us, you must provide us with some personal data so that we can provide our services to you. On Wabitz, this includes a display name, a username, a password, and an email address. Your display name and username are always public, but you can choose to use a pseudonym if you like.
You should be aware that most activity on Wabitz is public, including your profile information, provided location, name. And you should be aware that your posts can contain certain information about you. The people you follow and who follow you are also public. If you like, comment on, or otherwise engage with a post from another account or advertiser, that user or advertiser might thereby learn information about you associated with the post or ad that you reacted to. While certain information can be made private, you should think carefully about the actions you take publicly and think carefully about what you choose to make public, especially if it is sensitive information.
When you make a post publicly, whether that is a listing in our marketplace, on your profile or timeline, or a photo or video in a gallery, you are directing us to disclose that information as broadly as possible, including through our APIs, which may be made available to other websites and apps for their use, for example to display posts on a news website or to analyze site statistics.
We use your contact information, such as your email address or phone number, to authenticate your account and keep it secure, and to help prevent spam, fraud, and abuse. We also use contact information to enable certain account features, such as login verification and to send you information about our services. Certain private information that may be collected in conjunction with your use of the Services, such as payment information, will never be disclosed. Information you mark private, will not be viewable by other users. We take the protection of this information seriously. We value privacy! As such, we collect far less information than our competitors and we do not sell that information. Private information provided is use to manage your account, improve our services, and provide better recommendations.
You may provide us with payment information, order to facilitate purchases made as part of our services. You should be careful not to share that information publicly or with other users of the site. The information you provide us will be used only for facilitating transactions on our Services. We take the protection of that information seriously.
Depending on your settings, we collect information from you regarding your current location, during sign up and when you post, which is either provided by you or gathered from signals such as your IP address or device settings. This information allows us to tag photos and provide a better, more reliable service.
Information From Advertisements
Although we do not currently have advertising, we reserve the right to advertise in the future. Individual users of our site may still advertise goods and services through their account and may collect public information such as profile information or track interactions with their posts.
Third Parties Information
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as others on Wabitz, and partners who help us evaluate the safety of our platform or monitor for misuse of the platform. If you login with a third party service, they may receive information about your login session and we can collect information from them that allows us to operate the Wabitz service.
We share or disclose non-personal data, such as aggregated information like the total number of times people engaged with a Post, demographics, the number of people who clicked on a particular link or voted on a poll in a Post (even if only one did), the topics that people are posting about or discussing in a particular location, some inferred interests, or reports to advertisers about how many people saw or clicked on their ads.
Direct Messaging Information
We provide certain features that let you communicate more privately or control who sees your content. For example, you can directly message users to have non-public conversations. When you communicate with others by sending or receiving direct messages, we will store and process your communications delivered to them. Our processing of this information may include scanning for malicious content and spam. And we may use information about who you communicate with to better understand your overall use of the platform and to protect the security of our platform. Obviously, we share the content of the direct messages with the people you sent them to. Because the recipient can retain a copy of the communications, even when those communications are private, you should still be careful what you share.
Information from Log Data
We may receive information when you view content on or otherwise interact with our services, which we refer to as “Log Data,” even if you have not created an account. This Log Data includes information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, the pages visited, your location, the name of your mobile carrier, as well as other device information, and cookie information. We use Log Data to better our services and ensure their reliable performance.
When You Click Links
We may track of how you interact with links across our services. If you click on an external link, the website operator might figure out that you came from Wabitz. If it was an advertisement, they may be able to associate information about you based on the characteristics of the audience it was designed to target.
A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your computer or mobile device, which is used to collect website usage data and to operate our services. It can be used to track your login session and keep you logged into the services. Although many browsers can be set to decline cookies, some of our services may not function properly if you disable cookies.
Sharing Within Your Control
We share or disclose information about you, such as your username and profile with your consent or at your direction, such as when you you authorize an app to access your account, when you choose to follow a user, or when you share your feedback with a business.
Technical Service Providers
We use third party services to perform some of the functions necessary for maintaining our network, such as hosting our platform, checking for spam, and to help us understand the use of our services. We may securely share your private personal data with such service providers subject on the condition that the third parties use your private personal data only on our behalf and pursuant to our instructions.
Payment Service Providers
We may share your payment information with payment services providers to process payments and to prevent, detect, and investigate fraud or other prohibited activities. This information can also be used to facilitate dispute resolution.
Change of Ownership
In the event that we are involved in an acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your personal data may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction.
When we receive a government request for information, we may try to narrow the request, or in some cases may object to producing any information at all. It is our general policy to protect user information from disclosure, and may push back on any requests that are too vague, broad, or don’t satisfy the legal requirements for such a request. When a government request is made about a person, our policy is to notify that person, as long as it is legal to do so. There are circumstances, like with cases involving child exploitation, where we won’t. In any case, we may preserve, use, share, or disclose your personal data or other safety data if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a lawful order or regulation or when there is an eminent risk of harm to the public or an individual.
Managing Your Information
We have many tools in place for you to manage your information. We encourage you to use features to limit the use disclosure of that information, such as privacy settings and tools. And, should you choose to no longer engage in the Services, you have the right to delete your account information. To delete your information, visit the account deletion page from within your profile.
